Home Skin Care

As the skin ages, the cells grow old and die. A dead layer of skin cells covers our skin and keeps build-ing up as we grow old. Hence, proper skin care al-ways should include washing and regular exfolia-tion.

Home Care Regime

We believe a good home skin care regime is vital to take good care of your skin. If you don’t allow buildup of dead cells on the skin and prevent en-trapment of dust, and grime in it, then your skin will stay youthful. We prescribe suitable exfoliative agents, moisturizing agents and sunscreens for home care on a regular basis.

AHA And PHA
Alpha hydroxy acids such as Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Galactic acid and Gluconolactone help in removing the superficial dead layers of the skin. A process called chemical exfoliation. They improve the progression and growth of normal cells of the skin. They also improve the elastin layer of the skin and thus the firmness of the skin. Regular use of these creams help in correcting minor damage to the skin.

Retinoic Acid
This is a Vit A analogue that helps in removing the dead and keratinous layers of the skin. It encour-ages growth of new good quality skin. It is come-dolytic and thus helps in controlling and preventing acne. It also reduces crease lines and wrinkles. It should only be used under the supervision of a qualified cosmetologist or aesthetic surgeon.

Vit C And Other Serums
These are new products that have shown consider-able promise in improving the lustre and glow of the skin. Vitamin C also reduces the activity of melanocytes, the pigment producing cells and lightens the skin. It also helps in building up the collagen (protein) fibres of the deeper dermis and thus enhances the thickness of the skin required to be done every 15 days for a good result in advanced cases. Maintenance peels may be done every 2 months. These peels should only be done by a specialist who is trained in Aesthetics. If administered wrongly, they can even burn the skin and damage it permanently. Hence utmost care is necessary. The downtime is usually only a day or two. Adequate sun protection an moisturisation is necessary during and after peeling process.

Skin Lightening Agents
Hydroquinone, Arbutin, Kojic Acid are products that will reduce the pigmentation of the melano-cytes and reduce the darkness. It is important to get the cause of the darkness assessed from your Aes-thetic Plastic Surgeon and use these products strictly under his supervision.
