Vaginoplasty also known as vaginal tightening is a cosmetic surgical procedure that tightens the vaginal tissue and muscles. This, in turn, tightens the area overall.

It should be done by those women who have excessive vaginal looseness. The vagina can be loose due to a number of reasons, some are loose since development, others are acquired during multiple vaginal deliveries or episiotomies done to facilitate vaginal dellivery. Episiotomy is a cut given to the vaginal opening and underlying muscles during delivery to make the opening bigger and help the baby to come out. A Vaginoplasty procedure will restore the anatomy, shape and tightness of the vaginal opening. It should lead to a satisfactory sexual intercourse. Please read FAQ's for more information.

Where do I begin?

A consultation with your Aesthetic Plastic surgeon at Aesthetics Medispa is the first step to learn how vaginoplasty can help you. This consultation will fully educate you in a non-pressured environment and will include a discussion of your goals, options available for vaginoplasty, likely outcomes, potential risks and complications.

Who can get vaginoplasty done?

Ideal candidate for vaginoplasty would be women who feel their vagina has become very loose, who face the problem of loss of sensation during sexual intercourse, or whose sexual partners feel the vagina is not tight enough or roomy.

What are the causes of laxity ( loose) in vaginal canal?

The laxity can be due to childbirth, from aging or even due to episiotomy (cut) made to help the baby pass through the canal.

Will vaginoplasty surgery have any effect on the appearance of my vagina?

Unless you undergo labiaplasty along with vaginoplasty, there should not be any change in the appearance of your vagina.

Can you explain the procedure?

The procedure is usually done under General or epidural anaesthesia. Your Aesthetic surgeon will make incisions in the vagina so that loose muscles can be tightened or shortened. Vaginal lining (mucosa) is reduced so as to reduce the diameter of the vaginal opening. Excess skin may also be removed. After this process is done, any incisions are closed with sutures and the area is dressed.

What to expect after surgery?

Expect some tenderness, bruising and swelling in the area which should subside once healed. We advise patients to refrain from sexual intercourse and the use of tampons for a period of4-6 weeks, so as to facilitate the recovery process. You should also avoid the lifting of heavy objects as well. .

What is the progress and healing period?

Patients can expect a recovery of about one to two weeks after the surgery. You might experience some light bleeding and soreness during the first day after surgery. Bruising and mild swelling may occur but usually fade within one to two days. You will be advised to do Kegels Exercises before and after the surgery to tighten the pelvic muscles..

When will I be able to return to work?

Most of the patients are able to return to work on the day after the vaginoplasty procedure. However strenuous activities should be avoided for about 6 weeks.

What are the possible risks and complications?

Like any surgery, vaginoplasty has its risks and complications. Some of these risks included bleeding, scarring and infection. Your surgeon at Aesthetics Medisp will take care to minimize the chance of any risks to occur.
